Every bonus and what it really costs

A bonus is a trade: extra balance in exchange for a wagering commitment. These pages price that trade honestly.

Every bonus and what it really costs

Read this before you claim anything

Three numbers decide whether an offer is worth taking, and the headline percentage is not one of them. Look for the wagering multiple, the maximum bet allowed while wagering, and how long you have to finish.

  • Wagering multiple — how many times the bonus must be staked. A 100 bonus at 30x means 3,000 in total stakes, not 3,000 of losses.
  • Maximum bet while wagering — usually a small fixed amount. Exceed it once and the bonus can be voided in full, including anything won with it.
  • Expiry — most offers run for seven to thirty days. Wagering you do not finish in time is wagering you did for nothing.

There is also game weighting: slots usually count fully, table games and live dealer often count for a fraction or not at all. If you only play blackjack, a slots-weighted bonus is close to worthless to you.

The rule that voids the most bonuses: Exceeding the maximum bet while a wagering requirement is open. It is often a small figure and it applies to every spin, not just the average. One large spin can cancel the whole balance built on the bonus.

A sensible claim routine

  • Read the specific offer terms, not the general terms page
  • Write down the maximum bet figure before your first spin
  • Check which games count towards wagering, and by how much
  • Note the expiry date somewhere you will actually see it
  • Decline the bonus if the conditions do not fit how you play — declining is always allowed

Bonus questions

Can I withdraw while a bonus is active?

Usually only by forfeiting the bonus and anything won with it. Some operators let you withdraw your own deposit and cancel the bonus separately; check the specific terms before you deposit, not afterwards.

Do free spin winnings come as cash?

Rarely. Free spin winnings are normally credited as bonus funds carrying their own wagering requirement, and often with a cap on how much can convert to cash.

What happens if the bonus expires mid-wagering?

The remaining bonus balance is removed along with winnings attributed to it. Progress is not carried over to a new offer.

Are two bonuses ever active at once?

Almost never. Most operators queue them, so the second only starts once the first is cleared or expired. Claiming a new offer while one is open can cancel the older one.
